Your glorious lily has faded as grass
Most reproduced likeness, her head
Anointed like kings for a thousand years past
Held up the world’s weightiest crown
As mother of nations with Commonwealth gleam
By casting its pinnacle down
Before Your throne to whom all nations shall stream
Confessing Your Name before men
In broadcasts worldwide at the gate of the year
She fought the good fight to the end
Her fifteenth Prime Minister given her ear
When coming of age, she declared
Her life, be it long or short, devoted to serve
Full seventy years she was spared
The ‘reign of one monarch’ we didn’t deserve
In Scotland her family mourn
A half-Jubilee since Diana had flowers
Will they light the fires of Your dawn
And joy fill our countries to witness Your powers?
A woman of valour You found
A gracious and noble queen saved for Your use
Three rainbows above her homes honoured sad news
